Scottsboro – Jackson County

Scottsboro is a city in Jackson County with recreation choices that can become part of an ordinary week, not just a home-search visit. The Rec*Com is a useful place to begin, but its building hours, activity schedule and different admission arrangements answer different questions. I would choose the activity first, then check the current session or reservation before building a household routine around it.

Where is the Rec*Com, and how do I register?

The city’s Parks and Recreation page lists the recreation department at 701 South Houston Street, Scottsboro, AL 35768 and 256-259-0999. This is not the South Broad Street City Hall address in the site’s footer.

The department directs program and sports registration to CommunityPass, and says that system also handles room and facility reservations. Start through the city’s link so you reach its actual registration service. A displayed facility or account login does not establish that your date, class or space is available.

Day Recreation opening hours published by the city
Monday–Thursday 5 a.m.–9 p.m.
Friday 5 a.m.–6 p.m.
Saturday 8 a.m.–6 p.m.
Sunday 1–5 p.m.

Those hours are a starting point for the destination, not a promise of open swimming, an available court or a staffed class at every moment. Ask about the activity and date you intend to use. A late-evening visit that fits the building hours may still require a different session or reservation.

Does one pass include every class and facility?

The Rec*Com’s facility page lists individual fitness-room use at $6 daily or $40 monthly, versus a $300 individual annual facility pass. Monthly fees cover the fitness room only; annual passes exclude league-game admission and classes. These are published undated rates, not a current quote—confirm the option and price before paying.

The same page describes indoor gyms, a walking track, pool and meeting spaces. It specifically excludes the upstairs walking track from its general accessibility statement. If a step-free walking route is important, discuss that exact route with staff rather than assume that an accessible building means every activity space has the same access.

For fitness-room use, the page requires ages 13–17 to be accompanied by an adult and excludes children under 12. It does not clearly resolve age 12; ask staff before planning a visit for a child that age. A family pass does not override activity-specific age rules.

For a household trying a new routine, list the activities separately—fitness room, swimming, a class or a court reservation—and ask about each. Keep any recurring membership charge separate from a one-time class or private-event booking. That makes the comparison useful without assuming that the largest pass is the best fit.

Can I use the summer schedule for an autumn visit?

No. The city’s schedule page currently labels its linked information “June 2026.” The Rec*Com page also lists a May 23–September 6, 2026 splash-park season, which has already ended as of this review. Neither is a current autumn activity timetable. Ask for the session you need rather than carrying a summer notice forward.

This matters when fitting a visit around work, school or home showings. Make the plan around a confirmed activity, and have another use for the time if a class is full or a facility is reserved. Do not interpret a recreation directory as a guarantee that every feature is operating today.

Which detailed guide fits a home project or waterfront purchase?

For renovation debris, the Scottsboro roll-off planning guide separates accepted material, rental periods, disposal charges and removal. It is the deeper next step for a project budget; ordinary recreation or city contact information does not settle a container reservation.

For a shoreline property, the waterfront and dock-records guide separates ownership, TVA permissions, physical condition and changes you hope to make. A public lake outing is not evidence of private shoreline rights.

The Jackson County guide connects the separate school-system, property-record and electric-service handoffs. I can help compare homes around the activities and journeys that matter to you while each office or provider confirms the address-specific details.
