Holly Pond – Cullman County

Holly Pond is a town in Cullman County, with a local library and a community history that reaches beyond today’s municipal outline. I would get to know it through both: make a practical library stop, then spend time with the photographs and stories collected by the Holly Pond Historical Society. For a home search, keep that sense of place alongside a separate list of questions about the actual address.

Holly Pond: town boundary from the 2024 U.S. Census Bureau, with the same boundary highlighted in a Northern Alabama locator inset. North is up. Editorial area: Central Corridor. Not a property or service-boundary map.

When is a good time to visit Guy Hunt Library?

The Cullman County Public Library System branch directory places Guy Hunt Library at 60 Lions Park Road, Holly Pond, AL 35083. Its published schedule is not the same every weekday:

Day Published opening hours
Tuesday and Thursday 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
Wednesday and Friday 1–5 p.m.

That makes a Tuesday or Thursday morning a different prospect from a Wednesday morning. Call 256-796-5226 before a special trip to confirm holiday changes, card requirements or a particular service. The branch directory establishes the location and hours; it does not establish that a program advertised at the main Cullman library also happens here.

Where can I explore the stories behind the place?

The Historical Society’s community collection is a useful starting point from home. Its categories include schools, businesses, families, farms, historical markers and documents. The actual collection includes historic community schools, old store photographs, newspaper material and a 1942 aerial view. Start with a subject that interests you rather than expect a single short town history to explain every surrounding community.

The society’s description of its work explicitly includes Holly Pond and surrounding communities associated with the school district. That is a historical collecting scope, not a current school-assignment map. Likewise, photographs of a home or store are historical records, not an invitation to enter private property.

For a different way into that history, the Cemetery Walk collection provides narration PDFs about people portrayed in past walks. You can read those stories online without assuming a live walk is scheduled. Check with the society for a current event rather than treat the archive as a ticket, meeting time or cemetery-access arrangement.

Is HollyPond.com the place to handle town business?

Its public pages identify the operator as the Holly Pond Historical Society. Use it for historical research; use the town office for municipal questions. The Cullman County municipal directory lists the Town of Holly Pond at 10885 US Highway 278 E, Holly Pond, AL 35083, 256-796-2124. Call before visiting for the current office window and the person who handles your question.

If you are considering work on a property or asking about a municipal facility, give the office the exact address and describe the proposed use. A Holly Pond mailing address, the historical society’s wider collecting area and the retained Census town map answer different questions; none alone establishes a permit requirement or a utility provider.

Turn a first visit into a useful home-search comparison

Try the library trip during the hours you would actually use it, and keep any unresolved school, collection or utility questions separate from what you enjoyed about the visit. The Cullman County guide supplies broader property-record and provider handoffs. My buyer planning guide can help organize those checks around the homes you are comparing without turning the town name into a promise about a particular property.
