Woodville – Jackson County

Getting to know Woodville can begin with ordinary errands: a library visit, a town-office question or planning a gathering. Those stops reveal more about a weekly routine than a scenic drive alone. The useful details are not all in one place, though—the library has its own address and schedule, sewer billing goes through Town Hall, and business licensing follows a separate route.

Where can I make the library part of my routine?

The Woodville Public Library’s own site lists 26 Venson Street, Woodville, AL 35776 and 256-776-2796. The town’s library profile publishes Tuesday–Friday hours of 9 a.m.–4 p.m. and Saturday hours of 8 a.m.–noon. A Saturday morning visit is therefore a different option from a weekday afternoon; do not assume the library follows Town Hall’s schedule.

The library site describes public computers and programs including story times, coding, crafts and games. It also links its catalog and identifies a Hoopla subscription. Start there to explore available material, then ask the library which card and borrowing arrangements apply to you. A digital collection is useful after a move, but a general Hoopla link does not establish that every visitor can borrow without a qualifying library account, nor does a program description confirm a particular session date.

Which errands belong at Town Hall?

The town’s home page gives Town Hall’s contact location as 29923 Alabama Highway 35, Woodville, AL 35776 and 256-776-2860. Its payment link is labeled for sewer bills or rentals—not as a universal application for every town service.

The Town Hall services page makes these distinctions:

What you need Published route What not to assume
A town venue rental Town Hall handles Bob Jones Community Center, Methodist Chapel and Woodville Park Pavilion rentals. A payment link alone does not reserve an available date or describe the rental conditions.
A sewer-billing answer Call 256-776-2860 or email woodvillesewerdept@outlook.com. Do not infer that every mailing address is connected to municipal sewer.
A business license The town directs town-limits business licensing to Avenu: 1-800-556-7274. Town Hall says it no longer handles business-license requests. Licensing does not itself establish property-use approval.

Town Hall also lists document notarization among its services. Call before making a special trip to confirm the person, paperwork and appointment arrangements needed. For a home-based business or a proposed property change, explain the intended use separately from the licensing request rather than assuming one process settles both.

Where are Woodville’s published storm shelters?

The town’s storm-shelter page lists two locations: the school shelter at 270 County Road 63, Woodville, AL 35776 and the shelter at 231 Hodges Street, Woodville, AL 35776. It states that shelters open for severe weather capable of producing tornadic activity. Those published locations are useful for advance planning, not a live confirmation of occupancy, access or available space.

Resolve the route, access needs and current opening arrangements with the town before threatening weather. Pair that plan with a home weather-alert setup that distinguishes radios, phone alerts and outdoor sirens. Do not wait until a warning to work out where a shelter is or assume that seeing its address online means every household need has been covered.

Plan around the tasks you will actually repeat

A useful first visit can include the library and the drive to Town Hall, while the shelter route belongs in a separate calm-weather household plan. Keep service-account questions attached to the actual home address and venue arrangements attached to the particular event. I would use those practical distinctions to compare how a home fits everyday life, not simply how close it looks to a familiar town label on a map.
