Nauvoo crosses the Walker–Winston county line, so a town name alone is not enough to choose every county service. A useful first visit starts with three separate destinations: Town Hall and Waterworks, the community center, and the park. Then connect the actual home address to the provider or county office responsible for the task.

Map sources and notes
Which Nauvoo destination matches my visit?
| Destination | Published location | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Town Hall and Waterworks | 176 McDaniel Avenue, Nauvoo, AL 35578 | Town and water-office questions |
| Community Center | 239 3rd Avenue, Nauvoo, AL 35578 | Gatherings and separately arranged rentals |
| Nauvoo Park | 603 4th Avenue, Nauvoo, AL 35578 | Playground and ballfields |
These are the destinations in the town’s location directory, not three names for the same building. The community-center page directs rental-date and pricing questions to Town Hall at 205-697-5890. A park visit does not reserve a field or the community center; use the named booking contact for a gathering.
How do I begin water service or arrange a payment?
The Nauvoo Water Works new-service page directs prospective customers to call 205-697-5890 or apply in person. Start with the actual service address and whether the home already has an account or meter. The town’s own water-utilities page links this provider, which is a more reliable starting point than selecting a similarly named payment site from a search result.
For an established account, the provider’s payment instructions distinguish its online payment route, mailed payments and office drop-off. The page says payments are due by the 15th; it recommends allowing five to seven business days for mailed payments and notes that bank bill-pay transfers may take up to seven business days to post. A bank showing a payment as sent is not the same as the utility having posted it.
The provider lists cash, check, money order and debit or credit card at the office, with fees applying to card payments. Use the official payment page with your own account number; do not send account details through a public town comment or a general real-estate contact form. Payment availability does not establish that a new property can receive service.
Does the town’s garbage link apply to every Nauvoo address?
The town’s new-resident resources link to Walker County Solid Waste, along with separate electric, gas and internet-provider resources. That is a set of starting contacts, not a service-boundary map for a town spanning two counties.
The linked Walker County Solid Waste page separates account signup, payment and restart assistance from landfill operations. Its account office number is 205-384-7253; the landfill office is 205-829-3830. Give the office the property’s actual county and address before assuming that a Walker County signup route covers a Winston County parcel or every place using a Nauvoo postal address.
For a home on the Winston County side that uses an existing septic system, the Winston County septic-care guide explains records, maintenance and the county environmental-office route. Its Winston-specific office details should not be transferred to a Walker County property; identify the county before choosing that next contact.
Which bridge notice should guide a planned trip?
The town’s official news page lists a September 29, 2026 notice that the bridge in the 800 block of Fourth Street reopened. It also retains the older August 25 closure notice about accident damage. Read those dates together: the earlier closure is not the latest posted status.
That dated reopening report is not a live road-condition feed. For a trip affected by new weather or work, return to the current town notices. Also keep the Fourth Street bridge notice separate from the park’s Fourth Avenue address; similar street labels are not evidence that they identify the same place.
Build the move around the correct address
Use the town directory to choose an actual destination, the water provider’s own instructions for an account, and the appropriate county contact for county services. Keeping those identities separate is especially valuable in a cross-county community: it turns a broad Nauvoo search into decisions tied to the home you are considering.
