Lakeview – DeKalb County

Lakeview is the DeKalb County town along Alabama 75—not the similarly named Lake View in Tuscaloosa County. When comparing homes here, keep three different questions separate: what has changed on the highway, what conditions affect today’s drive, and what the records say about the specific property. A road improvement can help you understand the setting without answering every question about living beside it.

What changed at the Town Creek crossing?

ALDOT now marks the SR-75 Town Creek bridge replacement in Lakeview, near the Marshall County line, as completed. Its project number is BR-0075(536). The page also retains an older projected summer 2025 completion date and construction-era description; those planning fields should not be mistaken for a new closure announcement.

The agency’s July 30, 2025 progress report says traffic had moved onto the new bridge in mid-July, with demolition of the old 1942 bridge then beginning. It describes a longer, wider and taller replacement with shoulders and changed approaches. That is evidence of a completed infrastructure change—not a measured reduction in your commute or a prediction about property values.

Which information helps before a home-viewing trip?

Question Useful source What it does not establish
Is the bridge project still underway? ALDOT project status A guarantee that today’s route has no incidents or maintenance
What affects the drive today? ALGO Traffic, linked by ALDOT A fixed travel time from every Lakeview address
What does a flood map show at the property? FEMA Map Service Center address search The town outline is not a parcel flood determination

For a work-related move, use the same actual workplace and arrival time when comparing houses. The guide to comparing a Huntsville-area commute explains the full-trip method, including the distinction between reaching the region and reaching your workplace. Lakeview should not inherit a drive-time promise from another town simply because both appear in a Northern Alabama search.

Where can you research the property rather than the town outline?

The FEMA Map Service Center accepts an address, place or coordinates and provides official flood-hazard products. Its Search All Products option reaches more than the current map, and FEMA warns that downloaded effective information can later be superseded. Use the exact property and keep the map date with your notes; do not infer flood status from the Census outline on this page or from a newer bridge nearby.

A February 2021 FEMA notice named Lakeview City Hall at 39333 Alabama Highway 75, Fyffe, AL 35971 as the local map repository for that preliminary study. This is a dated repository record, not a current office-hours announcement or proof that those preliminary maps are today’s effective maps. The DeKalb Tourism relocation directory lists Lakeview Town Hall at 256-659-4021; call before an in-person records visit.

Turn the research into a useful comparison

Keep a short note for each candidate home: the actual route you drove, the source and date of the property map you reviewed, and the unresolved property question for the responsible office. This separates a verified change to the public road from details that belong to an individual purchase. It also makes two home visits easier to compare without relying on a shared ZIP code or a broad description of the area.
