East Point – Cullman County

East Point is a Census-designated place in Cullman County, not a separate incorporated town. The boundary map helps identify the community, but it does not create an East Point town hall, establish a utility service area or tell you who maintains an individual road. For a home search here, the useful starting point is to match each question to the actual office or operator.

East Point: cdp boundary from the 2024 U.S. Census Bureau, with the same boundary highlighted in a Northern Alabama locator inset. North is up. Editorial area: Central Corridor. Not a property or service-boundary map.

Who handles a road concern or a proposed driveway change?

The Cullman County Road Department receives road questions at 256-796-2266. Its guidance says pothole reports go to the area supervisor and distinguishes drainage or mowing concerns from roadside litter, which it routes to Sanitation. The department also publishes a driveway-pipe permit application, maintenance-acceptance guidelines and floodplain materials.

Question Starting point Scope to establish
Pothole, drainage or mowing concern County Road Department Confirm that the affected road is county-maintained
Roadside litter or debris Sanitation route linked in the county road guidance A litter report is not a driveway-construction application
New entrance or driveway pipe Published permit application and county review A state highway or private road may involve a different authority

The road office lists Monday–Thursday hours of 6 a.m.–4:30 p.m. at 2883 Highway 69 North, Cullman, AL 35058. Take the road name and exact property location into the conversation; a Census community name alone is not a maintenance determination.

What if an old water or sanitation bill gives the wrong payment route?

For households that actually have a Cullman County Water or county sanitation account, the county’s current billing notice reports transition-related credit errors and directs customers to its own payment and automatic-draft setup. It warns that sanitation payments made to Cullman Electric after October 6 and water payments after October 20 are applied to the electric account. Keep the payment receipt and discuss a questionable balance with County Water at 256-734-2900 rather than assuming the old payment route still works.

The county lists its in-person/drop-box location at 2020 Beech Avenue SE, Cullman, AL 35055. Its page contains conflicting office-hour blocks, so confirm the visiting hours before going. This notice concerns those county accounts; it is not evidence that County Water serves every East Point home. The Cullman County water, septic and access guide explains the broader property investigation without treating electric billing as water-service confirmation.

Where can you explore the nearby reservoir setting?

Cullman Parks, Recreation and Sports Tourism describes Duck River Reservoir off U.S.278 East as both a water-supply reservoir and a public recreation destination, with more than 21 miles of hiking and biking trails and two boat launches. Its listing provides a site map and the location 68 County Road 1640, Cullman, AL 35058. Use that named destination rather than a generic East Point pin when planning a visit.

Treat the reservoir as a regional outing, not a promise of public access from a nearby property. The operator’s site map is a better starting point for choosing an access point than the locality outline above. A home’s drinking-water provider, permission to use adjoining land and the public recreation entrance remain separate questions.

Build the comparison around the actual home

Keep one short list for each candidate: road authority, actual water provider, current account-transfer route and the recreation destinations you would use. The distinctions above help you ask the right office a concrete question instead of treating East Point as a single service district. For a proposed build or a home with septic or a private well, continue with the property-specific guide before assuming that a nearby connection or an existing driveway settles the matter.
