Boaz – Etowah / Marshall Counties

Boaz crosses the Marshall–Etowah county line, so a useful home-search folder keeps both the city and the property’s county visible. From there, everyday choices become more concrete: which office handles a building question, what to bring on a first library visit, and what a park reservation actually includes.

Which map or office answers the property question?

The city’s official service directory links separate Etowah County and Marshall County revenue parcel viewers. Use the county attached to the property’s actual record rather than assume every Boaz address belongs to Marshall County. The retained Census map gives municipal context; it does not replace a parcel record or establish a school assignment.

For proposed work, the Boaz Building Inspection office specifically handles zoning locations and setbacks, permit plans and inspections, and subdivision regulations. Its published phone is 256-593-0241 at 112 North Broad Street, Boaz, AL 35957. Bring the address and the planned change so the office can distinguish a zoning question from an inspection or permit requirement. A county property-search result is not that approval.

What makes a first library visit useful after a move?

The Boaz Public Library is at 404 Thomas Avenue, Boaz, AL 35957. Published hours are Monday–Thursday 9 a.m.–7 p.m., Friday 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.–3 p.m.; Sunday is closed. That leaves a different weekday window from a typical daytime municipal errand.

The library’s card guidance asks for identification and proof of address, and identifies free membership for Boaz residents, Marshall County residents and people living within 20 miles of the library. It also describes work and college-enrollment eligibility. Someone moving into a Boaz address should not assume the county line alone prevents a library card.

For a person outside those categories, ask 256-593-3000 before making a special trip: the published FAQ and February 2024 policy manual differ on out-of-area membership. The dated policy manual describes paid membership for some Alabama residents, while one FAQ version says out-of-area cards are unavailable. Bring your address and any relevant employment or enrollment proof so staff can resolve your actual eligibility.

The same FAQ lists free Wi-Fi and a guest-computer route with picture identification for visitors without a library card. Printing and document services can help with ordinary moving paperwork, but submit account applications and sensitive documents only through the responsible organization’s own process.

Does reserving an Old Mill Park pavilion make the playground private?

No. The city’s Old Mill Park guidance distinguishes pavilion reservations from public use of the playground and splash pad. The park at 10315 Alabama Highway 168, Boaz, AL 35957 includes a walking track, playground, splash pad, two pavilions and an amphitheater.

Planning choice Published arrangement What it means
Reserve one pavilion $100 for two hours, plus a $50 deposit subject to the stated conditions. Do not assume the whole park is reserved.
Use the playground or splash pad Private use is not included; splash-pad operating hours still apply. Other visitors retain access.
Bring equipment or a pet The park lists no pets or bicycles/skates/boards inside the park. Choose a different outing for a pet walk or bike ride.

Reservations can start from the city’s linked booking route or the Recreation Center, 256-593-7862. Review current availability and cancellation deadlines before sending invitations. A splash-pad listing is not confirmation that water play is operating on the date of your visit.

Keep the county, city and daily route together

The Marshall County guide provides wider property and school-system handoffs for that side of the city. For a workplace elsewhere, the regional commute guide helps compare complete trips rather than assign one travel time to Boaz. Carry the precise address into each conversation; city membership, county records, library eligibility and school enrollment are different questions.
